WMI Provider Host helps to communicate one software or tool with another installed program. So, in simple words, it functions as a mediator among various programs installed on the Windows PC.

As we said earlier that WmiPrvSE.exe uses normal CPU but does not consume high CPU usage. Generally, it uses less than 5 percent of the total CPU.   5. After another restart, you will see a list with several options. Press 5 or F5 to switch to Safe Mode with Networking.

Select and open Event Viewer from the Start menu.

  1. Go to Application and Service Logs => Microsoft= > Windows => WMI Activity.
  2. Check for errors and write down the client process ID.
  3. Now open the Task Manager by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESC.
  4. Go to Services and look for the process with the same ID.
  5. End the problematic process by right-clicking it and pressing Stop.

Method 3 – How to Fix WMI High CPU (Reboot WMI Host)

In some cases, simply restarting the service may be the solution. To do this, do the following:

  1. Press Windows and R simultaneously on the keyboard.
  2. Enter services.msc and select OK.
  3. Locate the Windows Management Instrumentation service.
  4. Right-click on it and select Restart.
  5. Enter cmd in the Windows search box.
  6. Right-click on the search result and select Run as administrator.
  7. Next, enter the following commands and press Enter after each command:

net stop iphlpsvc

net stop wscsvc

net stop Winmgmt

net start Winmgmt
